The Birmingham based metalcore band’s debut single partners driving distorted guitar riffs, drilling double kick drums and heartfelt lyrics about questioning purpose that culminates in a truly anthemic declaration of faith and belief.

The band first began as the in-house band for Revolution Reality Midlands, which according to the website is “…an inclusive community of people who love music loud, heavy & alternative. We exist for all people but especially the misfits, the broken, the hurting and the outcasts. We're a community of people with open minds, open hearts and open arms.” The Revolution Reality movement was founded in Utah by Tommy Green, vocalist for US hardcore band Sleeping Giant.

Initially, I wrote the lyrics during a time of anxiety whilst contemplating death.

Speaking to Josh, our xRhythms contributor, the band’s frontman Matt McKay talked about the source of the lyrics. “Initially, I wrote the lyrics during a time of anxiety whilst contemplating death, so I wanted the track to give hope to those who struggle with those thoughts.”

Meet Your Maker actively express their faith through their music, whether covers or originals, and aim to help open the door to faith and build a relationship with God.

We also wanted it to give people an opportunity to praise Jesus.

Matt also talked about how the outro is very different to the rest of the track with a gospel-style anthem. “Musically we wanted to put out something which was cathartic,” Matt continues, “something that people could shout, headbang and jump around to, but we also wanted it to give people an opportunity to praise Jesus and worship Him through singing too.”
