As we enter into 2024, there has been a phrase trending on Tiktok that says ‘do it for the plot’.

Doing something for the plot means adventure, action and advancing forward in life. When you need confidence to make a decision, remember, you are doing it for the plot. Or if you aren’t sure how something will work out, don’t worry because it will all work out for the plot.

Just a few days ago I went on an adventure to the Lake District to climb one of the highest mountains – over 3,000 feet high. See photo below as proof!

Accepting the invitation to go and climb this mountain wasn’t as straight forward as you might think.

I haven’t climbed a mountain in over 10 years and haven’t done much exercise either! So climbing over 3,000 feet, traversing rock faces, and being out in the cold sounded like quite the challenge.

Inside myself, I felt the call to adventure.

Inside myself, I felt the call to adventure, yet another part of me was saying play it safe and stay at home tucked up in bed. However, I decided to do it for the plot.

Part of doing something for the plot though, is also about recognising that because you are the central figure in your own life, you can do what you want, how you want and when you want.

This is where, as a Christian, I would think differently.

While I agree that we have to live our lives to the full, with adventure and excitement. I also believe that my life isn’t my own and that God should be first place in all my decisions, as I let Him lead and guide my life.

God knows the ‘plot’, and I want to follow His story.

Entering into the new year certainly creates mixed emotions. For some, it might be a sense of excitement and anticipation of things to come. Whereas, for others, anxiety about the unknown or over a current on-going situation may be very real.

Wherever you are at, don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. Live a bold, tenacious and courageous life this year. Most of all though, do it all for God’s plot, because His way, purpose and plan is always best.
